Despite tepid reviews, the debut of Shrek 3 topped the box office this weekend with a whopping $122 million. This number is larger than the opening for Shrek 2, and the third largest opening of all time (behind Spiderman 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean 2).
Spiderman 3, meanwhile, dropped another 51% to $28.5 million, good enough for the #2 spot. Here's the rest of the Top 10:
1. Shrek 3 $122 million
2. Spiderman 3 $28.5 million
3. 28 Weeks Later $5.15 million
4. Distrubia $3.675 million
5. Georgia Rule $3.493 million
6. Fracture $2.875 million
7. Delta Farce $1.84 million
8. The Invisible $1.31 million
9. Hot Fuzz $1.255 million
10. Waitress $1.1 million
