Jordin Sparks' New Single To Debut at Radio August 27

It's been an unusually quiet summer on the American Idol front, but that may be starting to change.

It was (finally) announced that Season 6 champ Jordin Sparks has been signed to Jive Records, and that her first single, called "Tattoo," will be released to radio on August 27.

Jordin is the first Season 6 contender to have a record deal announced, which is slightly surprising considering last year at this time we had already heard of deals for Taylor Hicks, Katharine McPhee, Chris Daughtry and Kellie Pickler.

Does this mean that they have taken more time to produce a quality record, as opposed to rushing out a CD that may or may not be of listen-able quality? Let's hope so.

I, for one, am very curious to hear what Jordin's new song sounds like -- will it be more "Miss Independent" or "This is My Now"? Here's hoping it's the former.

Jordin who? I'm sure the single/album will be as bland as she is. Ho-hum.

This show has been going downhill ever since the Carrie/Bo season. Season 4 was the last decent season left. Come on, Taylor Hicks over Chris Daughtry & Elliot Yamin? Jordin Sparks over Melinda Doolittle? I probably won't even watch the show this year.
