Predicting the Emmys: Lead Actor in a Comedy

For the next two weeks, I will be giving my predictions for the 2007 Emmy Awards. Who was overlooked? Who should win? And who's gonna win?

BEST LEAD ACTOR IN A COMEDY
Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock
Steve Carell, The Office
Ricky Gervais, Extras
Tony Shalhoub, Monk
Charlie Sheen, Two and a Half Men

Overlooked:
Zach Braff, Scrubs
Adrian Grenier, Entourage
Jason Lee, My Name is Earl

Should Win: Alec Baldwin

Will Win: Alec Baldwin

In what is probably the easiest category to call at this year's awards, Alec Baldwin should and will win the top prize for his consistently hysterical work on 30 Rock. Earlier in the summer it appeared that Baldwin's personal drama might overshadow his stellar work on the show, but that seems to have died down, and he now looks like a shoo-in to emerge from the ceremony with trophy in hand. Sure, cult favorite Gervais, last year's champ Carrel, or multiple winner Shalhoub could possibly sneak by him, but this one looks like its Baldwin's to lose.
