Semifinal Performances: LaKisha

Seacrest + turtleneck + blazer + seductively saying "You know it" = me, more scared than I ever thought I could be.

Well, the award for most improved dresser of the week most definitely goes to LaKisha, who is workin' it out in her black clingy number.

And she works it out in her song too, putting some passion and soul into that old Idol chestnut "I Have Nothing" (sung previously by Trenyce, Jennifer Hudson, Vonzell Solomon, and Katharine McPhee, among others) It's not the best version of the song I've ever heard, but at the very least she has helped me makes strides toward erasing the image of Katharine in that canary yellow dress, her decolletage threatening to take over the show. Scary. And kinda hot.

Seriously, though, LaKisha is great. She spoiled us the first week out, so every subsequent performance is going to be a bit of a letdown, but she's still unequivocally fantastic.

GRADE: A

while I totally love Lakisha's performances, something bothers me about her lack of "afterglow". When the music stops, she seems to go inward and her expression changes drastically as if she is has done something bad. I've noticed this afer every performance and think that it really could work against her. I just wish she would stay "up" after the song and relish in it all. We certainly are.

And one more thing. I don't think the "being afraid animals" was really a good way to go either.
