Song Spoilers for Tonight's Show - Top 6

There's a lot happening in the message boards today, with lots of talk of conspiracy and song choices. I try to avoid all of the conspiracy chatter -- it's been around since Season 1 and nothing has ever been proven, so I find it a bit of a waste of time to focus on. This is not to suggest that there definitively isn't some sort of conspiracy at play -- I guess I am just choosing to believe that there is too much at stake for the show to play shady, and until I see hard evidence, I'm going to remain (naively?) optimistic.

As for tonight's show, here are the supposed spoilers and performance order...stop reading now if you want to be surprised!

Chris Richardson - "If I Could Change the World" (Eric Clapton)
Melinda Doolittle - "There Will Come A Day" (Faith Hill)
Blake Lewis - "Imagine" (John Lennon)
LaKisha Jones - "I Believe" (Fantasia)
Phil Stacey - "The Change" (Garth Brooks)
Jordin Sparks - "You'll Never Walk Alone" (the musical Carousel)

At first glance, I have to say these are some really solid choices. The Clapton tune should suit Chris' vocal tone quite nicely; I have loved "There Will Come a Day" since I heard Faith Hill sing it on the 9/11 telethon back in '01; Blake could really put an interesting spin on "Imagine"; Phil is wise to go back to the country well; and Jordin could really create some magic on "You'll Never Walk..." LaKisha seems to have once again chosen a song sung by a former Idol, but this is one that she could really put her own stamp on.

Should be an interesting night...

This will make or break Lakisha, and I think it's gonna break her. She has always been more about karaoke and less about truly inhabiting and LIVING a song...which is the thing that 'Tasia does best. After Tasia (and even Diana!) tore the song up, how will this compare? On a side note....how is it nearly 3pm on 4/24 and there has been nary a mention of Ms. Clarkson's birthday?! I expected a celebration at Idol Thoughts!!

Jordin Sparks makes the most brilliant song choices. I got all a'quiver just hearing that she'll be singing that song. I regret to think what may happen when I actually witness it. She's a song selection genius.
