According to an interview with American Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe on Ryan Seacrest's radio show this morning, here is some more information about tonight's big show:
A record number of votes were recieved (far exceeding the 50 million)!
Madonna will be there!
Kelly Clarkson will be performing with guitarist Jeff Beck!
Annie Lennox will be performing "Bridge Over Troubled Water!"
The contestants will be singing Bono's "American Prayer!"
As has been reported elsewhere, Celine Dion will be performing a duet of "If I Can Dream" with a virtual Elvis Presley.
There is also a rumor circulating that Carrie Underwood will be performing live from Africa.
2PM Update:
*Carrie Underwood's performance has now been confirmed -- she will be performing "I'll Stand By You" from South Africa
*Madonna will be appearing via a pre-taped message, she will not be appearing live on the show
*Josh Groban will perform with the African Children's Choir
