Well how do you like that -- Daughtry, whose eponymous album has been in stores for more than a year, just passed Carrie Underwood's Carnival Ride on the album sales chart. Looks like there's a new Idol sheriff in town!
Daughtry moved 23K copies for the #17 spot this week, while Underwood sold almost 22K, good enough for the #20 spot. It'll be interesting to see how this back-and-forth battle shapes up in the upcoming weeks.
Jordin Sparks, meanwhile, dropped 21% this week, falling to just 12K albums sold and the #49 spot. I'm surprised by this -- her song "Tattoo" continues to hang in the Top 10 on the pop chart, and "No Air" (featuring Chris Brown) is quickly rising. Is her sales boost simply yet to come?
The top 5 this week were the Juno soundtrack (71K), Alicia Keys (70K), Mary J Blige (64K), Radiohead (56K) and Taylor Swift (35K).
