The following quote was put on Kelly Clarkson's official website this morning --
"There has been quite a bit of controversy surrounding the release of "My December," much of which has focused on a supposed feud with my record label, in particular, Clive Davis. I want to set the record straight on this by saying that I want my band, my advisors, those close to me and my record label to be one big, tightly knit family. Like any family we will disagree and argue sometimes but, in the end, it's respect and admiration that will keep us together. A lot has been made in the press about my relationship with Clive. Much of this has been blown way out of proportion and taken out of context. Contrary to recent characterizations in the press, I'm well aware that Clive is one of the great record men of all time. He has been a key advisor and has been an important force in my success to date. He has also given me respect by releasing my new album when he was not obligated to do so. I really regret how this has turned out and I apologize to those whom I have done disservice. I would never intentionally hurt anyone. I love music, and I love the people I am blessed to work with. I am happy that my team is behind me and I look forward to the future."

I say, good for you Kelly for putting this out there -- hopefully we can all start to move past the "controversy" and look toward the future. Perhaps, once the Clive vs. Kelly debacle is behind us, people will be able to listen to My December for what it really is -- a very solid album, with a few near-masterpieces, that definitely deserves an audience.
As a side note, I listened to "Sober" easily 15 times this weekend -- I'm a little obsessed.

That is one load of ......Damage Control. After all the spewing she did about 80 year old man etc. she was talking through her ass. She had to kiss and make up because the album is in need of some support and her managers finally talked some sense into her.
I find it hard to believe she was quoted verbatim in the magazine articles. I have listened to her interviews for radio. she seems very respectful. She has been saying from the beginning she has a good relationship with Clive Davis. She has also been telling the radio interviewers that it has been blown up by the media. Imagine the media doing such a thing!?!
Oh by the ways - Her album is very good, just as good as the first two.
I luv Kelly but honestly, this is uber damage control engineered by Reba's husband to salvage her album sales and her damaged reputation. The press has clearly taken Clive's side on this war ( right or wrong) and Kelly grossly overestimated her popularity with the American public. She has a hardcore fanbase with similar demographics as Claymates, young fat chicks, old fat chicks, middle aged balding men and young gay guys. They can only buy so many albums because the rest of the record buying public has switched to Fergie, Rhianna and Hanna Montana. If American Idol 1 refuses to lose weight on the advice of RCA, then she will become the next BIG thing, ie, name all the other formerly hot rock chicks who got fat and lost their record sales and careers.Sorry but I gotta say my peace with some tuff luv. Cool beans.
