Angie Eliminated and Dan Named America's Player on Big Brother

Big Brother 10 Spoiler: The New Head of Household Is...

Despite some creative editing from the Big Brother producers (really, what's new?), Angie was sent packin' tonight on Big Brother 10.

While there seems to have been a bit of a last minute push by Libra and April (as well as Ollie and Jerry) to get Jessie outta here, it seems the rest of the house deemed Angie a bigger threat than the "natural bodybuilder."

In other news, Dan was named "America's Player" by the voting public. I actually think he's a good choice -- he has no alliances, so he can pretty much do whatever he wants without drawing too much suspicion. I have no doubt he'll figure out a way to pull of what he needs to pull of in a subtle way.

Which Former 'American Idol' Finalist Had the Best First Half of 2008?

SYTYCD Top 6 Elimination Prediction: Too Close to Call?

In four years of watching So You Think You Can Dance, I can't remember a season where it was so unclear which four dancers would make it to the finals.

But that's not going to stop me from trying to guess!

READ: Couples, Solo and Overall Rankings of the SYTYCD Top 6

GIRLS
Safe: Katee
In Danger: Chelsie, Courtney

Neither Katee or Chelsie has been in the Bottom 2 yet this season, yet Courtney gave two very strong performances last night -- what does that mean? I'm thinking Katee's stellar work with Joshua will propel her into the finals, which leaves the blonde and the brunette to battle it out for the second spot. While Chelsie has probably had a stronger overall season, and the former SYTYCD contestants she reminds me of (Ashley, Heidi) made it to the Final Four, I'm concerned that her consistency might actually work against her. Courtney, on the other hand, is an underdog of sorts after her Bottom 2 showing last week, but does she have enough of a following to make that final leap? As much as I love her (and her solos), I just don't think she does.

GUYS
Safe: Josh
In Danger: Mark, Twitch

At this point my feelings on Twitch are abundantly clear (READ: I Am So Over Twitch and Six Other Things I Learned From the SYTYCD Top 6), but I'm still not entirely convinced he'll be the one going home tonight. Joshua's remarkable work, combined with the fact that he has yet to appear in the Bottom 2, makes him a shoo-in for the Finals in my eyes, but Mark's up-and-down journey throughout the Top 10 is the real wildcard here. Both of his performances last night were great, but does he have enough support to knock of Twitch-man? On this one I'm going to go with a tentative "yes."

So...

Eliminated Girl: Courtney
Eliminated Guy: Twitch

Eek. Thoughts?

Big Brother Idiocy Reaches New Heights: Houseguests Speculate That the Earthquake Was Faked

I've seen and heard a lot of stupid things on Big Brother, but I think this one may take the cake.

As you may have heard, Los Angeles was hit by a 5.4 magnitude earthquake on Tuesday afternoon (watch video of the houseguests reacting to the earthquake here). Many of the houseguests were outside when the quake hit.

Apparently, the houseguests are now speculating that earthquake was faked in anticipation of an upcoming Big Brother competition. Narcissistic, much?

To be fair, it doesn't seem like all of the houseguests think this to be the case -- at the moment, geniuses April and Ollie seem to be leading the charge. April says, in regards to the Big Brother producers faking the trembler, "They're good, they're really good," to which Ollie responded, "They had me fooled."

I mean!

(Libra, it seems, believes it was a fake 'quake as well.)

This conversation was followed by talk of who would be good in an earthquake competition. Jessie, it was determined, might not fare so well despite his muscles, while Michelle has been deemed a threat due to the fact that she in an athlete. The brainiacs believe Jerry will be the first one out.

Stay tuned for more...

I'm Officially Over Twitch and Five Other Things I Learned From the SYTYCD Top 6

Watching tonight's So You Think You Can Dance episode, featuring this season's Top 6 dancers, was surprisingly educational. Here are seven things I learned:

1. I am officially over Twitch
From the annoying Superman-esque t-shirts, to the mini-breakdown last week when it was announced he was in the Bottom 2, to the gimmicky gold teeth tonight, I am done caring about the "street dancer." (I use the term "street dancer" liberally, considering he danced in the movie Hairspray, which was directed by tonight's judge Adam Shenkman -- read DANCING ON BROADWAY, INDEED: TWITCH WAS IN THE MOVIE 'HAIRSPRAY') Sure, he's had some serious highs on this show (Mia Michaels' bed routine) and he's undoubtedly gifted when it comes to hip-hop, but at this point in the competition I'm looking for more than that. Sorry big guy.

2. Cat Deeley will do anything
I am a little obsessed with Ms. Deeley this season. Her willingness to do whatever it takes to put a smile on the faces of the judges, contestants, and audience is totally endearing, and she gets more and more gorgeous every week. But she took a big step over the line tonight by putting Twitch's saliva-coated gold teeth in her mouth. Ew...I shuddered just typing that. Cat, learn where the line is. 'Kay babe?

3. I love the Viennese Waltz
Once upon a time, before the days of So You Think You Can Dance, I thought the waltz was boring and for old people. While I'm not completely sold on the Smooth Waltz, I have officially become a devotee of the Viennese version. From Danny and Lacey's triumph last year, to Mark and Courtney's beautiful performance this evening, the dance never fails to let me down. Who knew?

4. Chelsie can do anything. Anything.
Pretty self-explanatory. In fact, she's so good I'm afraid she's going to fall prey to what will now be known as "Will syndrome." Did you call and vote for her? Did you?

5. Mary Murphy has officially become a caricature of herself
That prolonged scream tonight sent her right over the edge. Tone it down, Mary. Just a notch.

6. Courtney gives good solo
Week after week she performs with strength and emotion. Could she surprise everyone and make it to the finals? I'm thinking it's a definite possibility.

7. Katee and Joshua have better chemistry than any other couple in SYTYCD history
Sure, Benji and Donyelle were dynamite, Melody and Nick had charisma galore, and Sabra brought out the best in everyone she danced with. However, none of those couples complemented each other so perfectly, fit together so well, and created so much heat on the dance floor as Josh and Katee. Separately they are great -- together they are transcendent.

POLL: Which of the So You Think You Can Dance Top 6 Will Advance to the Finals

Ranking the SYTYCD Top 6: Couple, Solo and Overall Rankings

There was remarkably good work on tonight's Top 6 episode of So You Think You Can Dance. You can read I am Officially Over Twitch and Six Other Things I Learned From Tonight's SYTYCD for more of my thoughts on the show, but here are my rankings of the Top 6:

Couples Dances:

These rankings are always influenced as much by the choreography as by the dancers themselves, but in some cases that doesn't actually work in a couple's favor. Take, for instance, Chelsie and Twitch, who were handed amazing choreography that Chelsie executed flawlessly, but due to Twitch's weaknesses it fell to the bottom of the pack. Courtney and Mark, meanwhile, were presumed DOA coming into tonight's show, but a stellar performance of Sonia's startlingly inventive choreography could end up buying them a trip to the finale. Tyce aped Mia Michaels' work, and it worked, while Napoleon and Tabitha provided clever but not particularly substantial material for Chelsie and Twitch. Australian choreographer Jason, though, gets newcomer kudos of the night for his stellar Viennese Waltz and Paso Doble. Quite impressive!

1. Courtney and Mark, Jazz
2. Katee and Josh, Contemporary
3. Katee and Josh, Paso Doble
4. Courtney and Mark, Viennese Waltz
5. Chelsie and Twitch, Hip-Hop
6. Chelsie and Twitch, Mambo

Solos:

Courtney continues to give better solo performances than her peers, Joshua showed Twitch how to really hit a solo hip-hop routine, and Chelsie, unfortunately, suffers from the same problem Lacey and Anya had before her -- a solo ballroom performance just doesn't work. Mark, meanwhile, continues to be uninspiring when he takes to the stage by himself.

1. Courtney
2. Josh
3. Katee
4. Chelsie
5. Twitch
6. Mark

Overall:

Josh and Katee brought out the best in each other, and as such finished at #1 and #2 this week. Despite not ranking higher than 4 in the previous two categories, Chelsie still snags the #3 spot based on her strong performances in both couples routines. Her partner, meanwhile, is at the bottom of the pack, just above Mark, who he will likely be standing next to tomorrow tonight. With three of the four girls in the Top 4, I'm sure to be disappointed by the results. But -- which girl will it be?

1. Josh
2. Katee
3. Chelsie
4. Courtney
5. Mark
6. Twitch

Video: The Big Brother Houseguests React to the Earth Moving

The earth moved yesterday at the Big Brother house -- and it wasn't because April and Ollie were doin' the nasty!

A 5.4 earthquake rocked Los Angeles yesterday, and the houseguests responded, as they tend to do, in dramatic fashion. (Also typical was Jessie's reaction -- he took off his shirt!)

Big Brother 10 To Bring Back 'America's Player'

Oh no!!!!

According to a CBS press release, Big Brother is bringing back America's Player. Somewhere, Season 8's Eric is smiling.

Or not.

Here's what the release had to say:

"BIG BROTHER 10 will bring back the popular America's Player segment that debuted in "Big Brother 8," in which viewers will have the opportunity to vote to decide which current Houseguest will be given the chance to be the new America's Player on Tuesday, July 29 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT).

The Houseguest with the most votes will be offered the chance to become America's Player for one week. If they accept, they will do America's bidding and will have the opportunity to win a total of $20,000. They will be asked to make moves that are both personal and strategic, from getting certain Houseguests nominated for eviction to convincing their fellow Houseguests to vote for who America wants out of the house. Most importantly, they can never tell anyone in the house that they are working on behalf of viewers and they need to be careful... because, just like their fellow Houseguests, they can be voted out at any time. Viewers will be able to vote on cbs.com or via text messaging from their mobile phone."

Who do you think America will choose as it's surrogate player? And who will we want to vote out?

SYTYCD Top 6 Spoilers: Dance Styles, Choreographers and Couples Revealed!

SPOILER! SPOILER!

You know the deal...don't read if you don't want to know!

SPOILER! SPOILER!

Here are the couples, dance styles and choreographers for the So You Think You Can Dance Top 6.

Mark/Courtney
Jazz (Sonya)
Vienesse Waltz (SYTYCD Australia winner Jason Glikison)

Josh/Katee
Contemporary (Tyce Diorio)
Paso Doble (SYTYCD Australia winner Jason Glikison)

Twitch/Chelsie
Mambo (Tony Meredith)
Hip Hop (Napoleon and Tabitha)

My goodness, Chelsie certainly does luck out by getting the Latin dances, doesn't she? Will Twitch rise to the occassion, or will he count on his hip hop skills to carry him through? (By the way, this will be the third time Twitch has gotten hip hop, not including the week he got krump). Will the return pairing of Josh and Katee create the same kind of sparks they set off earlier in the season? And can Courtney and Mark crack the Top 4 with strong performances? Guess we'll have to wait and see!

Mad Men Snags 2 Million Viewers -- Does That Make It a Hit?

I read an article this morning about AMC's critically acclaimed, Emmy nominated Mad Men receiving nearly 2 million viewers for it's second season opener. The article started with the line "Maybe Don Draper will become a household name after all."

Um -- when did 2 million viewers translate into household name? That's less than half the viewers than ABC's High School Musical reality show and ABC Family's Secret Life of the American Teenager, and less than a third of USA's In Plain Sight. Can you name any of the characters on those shows? I think Don Draper may have a ways to go before he reaches "household name" status.

Don't get me wrong -- Mad Men is one of my favorite shows on TV, and I want nothing more than for it to become a mammoth hit and win tons of Emmy Awards. But no show in recent memory (save, perhaps, the fifth and final season of HBO's brilliant The Wire) has received such universal support from the nation's critics. This show has been everywhere -- newspapers, magazines, TV shows. If all of that publicity can only muster up 1 million more viewers than the show was averaging last year, can these new Nielsen numbers really be considered all that promising?

Which Former Idol Had the Best First Half of 2008?

2008 is a little more than half over, so I thought now was as good a time as any to rank the former American Idol finalists on their year so far. Here's my top 6...take the poll below and let me know who you think has had the best 2008 so far.

1. Jennifer Hudson
Even though she kinda stank up the screen, a role in the smash hit Sex and the City, a song on the soundtrack and her own album on the way keeps this Oscar winner at the top of the heap.

2. Jordin Sparks
Three hit singles help make up for the fact that her album has still not gone platinum. Major sympathy for vocal nodes drama. PS. I'm obsessed with "No Air"!

3. Carrie Underwood
Hit single after hit single, along with increased exposure in the celebrity weeklies, have made this girl one of the hottest stars around.

4. Chris Daughtry
Despite no Grammy wins, the band is quietly still producing hit singles and selling tons of records. Can't wait until their next album.

5. Kelly Clarkson
Despite no love for My December, a Grammy nomination and a successful tour with Reba McEntire means this girl is far from gone.

6. Clay Aiken
Revitalized his career with a well-received stint in Broadway's Spamalot and an album of new material. So what's next for Mr. Aiken?

Big Brother Spoiler: The Power of Veto Goes To...

SPOILER! SPOILER!

You know the deal...

SPOILER! SPOILER!

Keesha has won the Power of Veto competition, and has elected to keep her nominations the same. Thus, either Angie or Jessie will be going home this week.

In a converstation this afternoon, Keesha made clear her intentions to keep Jessie (who she called "funny") and get rid of Angie. Memphis is definitely on board with this plan, but they are both concerned that Jessie's physical prowess makes him more of a threat than Angie in the other houseguests' eyes. It remains to be seen if anyone will step up in thouse to campaign for Angie to stay.

With her second straight competition win, Keesha has now taken two in a row, and between she and Jessie, they've won all but one of the competitions so far this season. I'd imagine the first time someone else is in power both she and Jessie will be in trouble.

Speaking of Jessie -- have you seen his naked modeling pics? They're hysterical! If you haven't, CLICK HERE to check them out.

Seacrest, Klum, Probst, Bergeron and Mandel Will Host Emmy Awards

In an Emmy Awards move I can actually applaud, the five nominees for Best Reality Show Host will emcee the proceedings. Yep, that means American Idol's Ryan Seacrest, Project Runway's Heidi Klum, Dancing with the Stars' Tom Bergeron, Deal or No Deal's Howie Mandel and Survivor's Jeff Probst are in charge -- holla! An actually clever idea!

Poor Phil Keoghan. And Padma Lakshmi. And Cat Deeley.

This was the first year reality TV hosts were eligible for an Emmy Award now that a category recognizing "outstanding host for a reality or reality-competition program" was created by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Stay tuned for more info on the Emmys...

Big Brother 10 Spoiler: Keesha Nominates...

SPOILER! SPOILER!

Don't read if you don't want to know who has been nominated this week on Big Brother 10.

SPOILER! SPOILER!

Head of Household Keesha has nominated Angie and Jessie for eviction this week. Though she squabbled with Libra most of last week, her four-person alliance (Ollie, April, Libra, Keesha) seems to be holding strong.

Despite putting up last week's HOH Jessie (and the winner of two of the three competitions he's been eligible to compete in), Keesha claims that she is "not gunning" for him. We'll see if that holds up.

Speaking of Jessie -- have you seen the naked modeling pictures he took? If not, CLICK HERE to check 'em out!

Curse of the SYTYCD Top 8: Will Gone in Shocking Elimination

The curse of the Top 8 has struck again -- Will Wingfield has been eliminated So You Think You Can Dance. Nooooooooooooooo!

Oh yeah -- Comfort went home too.

Many (including myself) had thought Will was as good a bet as any to win this thing. His grace, strength, confidence and versatility made him seem like the perfect package. Sure, his performances last night were not off-the-charts (I ranked him 5th out of the 8 contestants in my rankings of the Top 8 in large part because of his spirited but ultimately disappointing solo), but I did not think there was even a chance he was going home. In fact, in my elimination prediction, I said that even though I expected Will or Twitch to be in the Bottom 2, I thought it was a sure thing that Mark was going home.

So much for that -- Mark wasn't even in the Bottom 2!

Did I forget to mention that Comfort went home too?

As for the Curse of the Top 8 that I mentioned earlier, I'm thinking back to Season 2, when Allison, who, like Will, was thought by many to be a contender for the title, was unexpectedly sent packing. I'm also thinking of Season 3, when Lauren, like Mark, was thought by many to surely be eliminated, was kept, while fan favorite Sara was shown the door. Is the Top 8 jinxed?

Of course, it's possible there's no curse and it's just simply annoying that Will has been eliminated. Sure, there have been other surprise eliminations, like Season 1's Blake, but this one stings deep. Will will be missed -- the next two weeks won't be the same without him.

PS. Comfort went home too.

Big Brother 10's Jessie Models in the Nude

Is there anyone on reality television who has not posed naked?

The latest reality TV personality to have naked pictures pop up on the internet is Big Brother 10's Jessie. The "natural bodybuilder" (does anyone know what that even means??) has won two competitions so far this season, and was Head of Household this past week.

Click here to see the NSFW picture of Jessie's "body of work"

Will Kelly Clarkson's Fourth Album Come Out By The End of 2008?

It's been a year full of highs and lows for Kelly Clarkson -- a much-publicized battle with her record company and less-than-stellar sales and reviews for her third album My December, followed by a hit country single, her fourth career Grammy nomination and a successful tour with Reba McEntire.

So what's next?

According to internet rumblings and reports from Kelly herself -- a new album!

Website tophitsonline.com is reporting that Clarkson's new album will be released on November 18, 2008. While no one from Kelly's camp has confirmed that date, blog posts from the singer herself have shown that she is, in fact, spending time in the recording studio. She is working with One Republic lead singer Ryan Tedder (co-writer of "Bleeding Love"), Curtis Richardson, Sam Watters and Louis Biancaniello, among others.

At least one person thinks this album will be a smash -- Ryan Tedder told KIIS FM DJ Jojo "I mean, I'm a little biased, cause I'm workin' on it, but, I think she's gonna have the best album yet."

Stay tuned for more news...

SYTYCD Top 8 Elimination Prediction: Comfort and Mark Are Hittin' the Road

Another week, another elimination prediction.

My rankings of the Top 8 partner dances, solos and overall performances

Here's my thoughts on tonight's eliminations:

Girls
Totally Safe: Katee, Chelsie
In Danger: Courtney, Comfort

Courtney has never been terrible; unfortunately, she's also never been transcendent. After two ho-hum numbers last night, is her time up? Probably not, as it's much more likely that Comfort's unexpected ride on SYTYCD will come to an end. Sure, she can do hip-hop -- too bad she hasn't proved that she can do anything else.

Guys
Totally Safe: Will, Joshua, Twitch
In Danger: Mark

While it's likely that either Will or Twitch will find himself back in the Bottom 2 tonight, there's no way either one is going home. Mark, who started off the competition so strongly, has faltered in the past few weeks, to the point that I can't even remember what I used to love about him. He's outta here.

So...my predictions for the eliminated contestants are Comfort and Mark.

Agree? Disagree? Sound off below!

Ranking the SYTYCD Top 8: Katee Once Again On Top

While there was only one clunker among the performances on last night's Top 8 episode of So You Think You Can Dance, I can't say I was quite as excited by the group as the judges seemed to be.

Here's how I'd rank the Top 8:

Dances:
1. Katee/Twitch -- Contemporary
2. Chelsie/Joshua -- Argentine Tango
3. Chelsie/Joshua -- Disco
4. Katee/Twitch -- Broadway
5. Courtney/Will -- Samba
6. Courtney/Will -- Hip Hop
7. Comfort/Mark -- Hip Hop
8. Comfort/Mark -- Fox Trot

Solos:
1. Katee
2. Joshua
3. Courntey
4. Twitch
5. Chelsie
6. Will
7. Mark
8. Comfort

Overall:
1. Katee
2. Joshua
3. Chelsie
4. Twitch
5. Will
6. Courtney
7. Mark
8. Comfort

MTV Legally Blonde Winner Bailey Hanks' Version of "So Much Better" Enters Itunes Chart

A little more than 24 hours after announcing one winner, MTV and Legally Blonde: The Musical have another winner on their hands.

Winner Bailey Hanks, who begins performances as Elle Woods in the Broadway musical this evening, recorded a version of the show's "So Much Better" that has entered the itunes Top 100 songs chart at #76 (as of 7/23 9:15AM EST*). In addition, the show's original cast recording has jumped to #4 on the chart, beating out all other Broadway shows, including Mamma Mia.

Since itunes sales factor into the Billboard Hot 100 chart, it is very possible that Hanks could be the first "Broadway star" to hit the Hot 100 with a showtune in quite some time.

(An interesting note -- Bailey's version of the song is in a lower key than Laura Bell Bundy's version. Hmmmmmmmmmm.)

I can't lie -- I was rooting for Autumn (the runner-up). Or even Lauren (the fourth place finisher). But in the end, Bailey is probably the best person to succeed Laura Bell Bundy. Though not the best singer or dancer the Great White Way has ever seen, she really is the part.

And it's a good thing -- 'cause she's playing it starting tomorrow!

Sure, her biggest strength is that she looks like a carbon copy of Bundy, and she's clearly studied her predecessor's performance enough to appear competent in the role. But at least she's not an embarrassment.

Right? Right?

Oh -- and in case you haven't heard, Lauren is understudying the role of Elle on tour, Autumn will understudy Bailey on Broadway and perform in the ensemble, and Rihannon will play sorority girl Margot on tour. So there's enough "Blonde" to go around!

*itunes ranking will be updated throughout the day

Big Brother's April and Ollie Get Frisky Underneath the Covers

Looks like the first showmance of Big Brother 10 is on!

April and Ollie have officially been seen on the live feeds doin' the nasty (or something in that vicinity -- whatever they did required washing of sheets. I'm just saying).

April accurately noted that they are one of the first biracial couples on reality TV. And only 10 days in -- good for them!!

Michelle mentioned earlier in the week that she was really hoping for a showmance herself, and Jessie responded that, though he is dating someone, he is officially "single." (As any Big Brother fan knows, being in a relationship doesn't mean much in the Big Brother house). I wonder if Jessie and April will rub off (so to speak) on Jessie and Michelle.

Guess we'll have to wait and see...

Holla -- Big Brother is Good Again!

I was worried. After this past trashy season of Big Brother, I didn't know if I would be able to jump back on the train. There wasn't one contestant I actually liked, and I found myself losing interest very early on during the season. Was I done with Big Brother?

I can officially, and happily, say no!

This season things are right back on track, with a (relatively) diverse cast of entertainingly messed up strangers. Whether it's Jessie's hysterical narcissism or Jerry's embarrassing attempts to fit in with the cool kids or Libra's non-sensical rants and quick mood changes, there is always something exciting to watch.

Here are my current favorite players in Big Brother 10:

1. Dan
While I kinda love gay rodeo star/puppy dog Steven, I'm totally intrigued by Dan. What is his game plan? How is he managing to lay so low? What does he have up his sleeve? I've got a feeling this guy is this year's James.

2. Keesha
Does she remind anyone else of Danielle Donato? Aside from the fact that she's a blonde (sorta), she's also whiny and totally self-important -- and I love it! Her devotion to Steven is endearing, if not particularly well-advised. I can't wait to see what she does next.

3. Renny
At first I thought she was an annoying wildcard -- now I think she's an exciting one. With no alliances to speak of, she's free to start trouble wherever she likes. Trouble = fun!

4. Michelle
A less weepy and more assertive Amber, this girl knows what she wants and isn't afraid to speak up for herself. She hasn't yet proven herself to be very smart, and her instant betrayal of Keesha shows she's fairly impulsive, but she's sure to be good for some laughs throughout the game.

Who are you loving this season? Sound off below.

Travis vs. Heidi

Neil vs. Allison

ELITE 8 RESULTS

In the battle of the brothers Travis came out on top with almost 20% more of the vote. He'll face off against Heidi in the Final Four, who pulled off a big upset win over Season 1 champ Nick Lazarrini. Nick wasn't the only former winner to fall -- Benji went down to Neil in a very close battle separated by only 5%. Neil is now the only Season 3 representative in the Final Four, as Lacey went down to Allison by a considerable margin.

Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss Will Join Jeremy Piven and Raul Esparza in Broadway's Speed the Plow

How does Mad Men star Elisabeth Moss top playing a character who gives birth to a baby she didn't know she was pregnant with? By starring on Broadway in a David Mamet play, of course!

Moss will join Entourage's Jeremy Piven and Broadway star Raul Esparza (Tick, Tick, Boom, The Homecoming, Taboo) this fall in Mamet's Speed the Plow. She will, of course, be playing the role that Madonna played in the original production of the show.

Previews for Speed the Plow begin October 3 at the Belasco Theatre. Mad Men returns with it's second season this Sunday on AMC.

American Idol's Diana Degarmo Will Star on Broadway in Godspell

The Broadway/American Idol connection just won't die!

After Season 3 champ Fantasia wow'ed audiences with her performance in The Color Purple, that season's runner-up, Diana Degarmo, will now star opposite Gavin Creel in this summer's revival of Stephen Schwartz's Godspell. Go Diana!

Since appearing on Idol, Degarmo starred in a national tour of Brooklyn and made her Broadway debut as Penny Pingleton in Hairspray. She also appeared on the CMT show "Gone Country."

Also appearing in the show are Joshua Henry as Judas with Uzo Aduba, Andrew Arrington, Sara Chase, Celisse Henderson, Morgan James, David Josefsberg, Telly Leung, Kyle Post, Dana Steingold, Maria Thayer and Daniel Torres.

Performances start September 23 at the Barrymore Theatre.

SYTYCD Madness Final Four: Travis vs. Heidi

SYTYCD Madness Final Four: Allison vs. Neil

SPOILER! Big Brother's Jessie Nominates Dan and Steven

Big Brother's current Head of Household Jessie has nominated Dan and Steven for eviction this week. Dan, of course, was first evictee Brian's ally, and Steven has been accused of being anti-social this week (not to mention calling a housemate "colored girl" and being photographed naked).

Yeah, a nomination seems the appropriate end to his week. Too bad, too, 'cause I wanted to love the gay rodeo 'fella.

At this point it appears as though Steven will be the one to go, though as any Big Brother fan knows, you've got to expect the unexpected with this show.

Stay tuned for more news...

Kherington and Gev Eliminated on So You Think You Can Dance

Comfort is a lucky, lucky girl.

After replacing an injured Jessica King in the Top 10 of So You Think You Can Dance, it was widely expected that Comfort's return to the stage would be short-lived.

Not so much.

Kherington, who lit the stage on fire for much of the first part of the competition, was sent home in a shocking-but-not-shocking elimination. (Not shocking, I say, because I predicted it in my post SYTYCD Top 10 Elimination Prediction: Did Comfort's Strong Hip-Hop Routine Save Her?). I'll be honest -- even though I expected her to get the boot, I still got a little sad during her goodbye package. She wasn't going to win the compeition, but she certainly provided a lot more spark than Comfort has.

As for the guys, I thought Gev's charm and generally consistent performances would buy him a bit more time in the competition. Alas, it wasn't meant to be -- the Khazak cutie was sent packin', in favor of Mark, his companion in the Bottom 2. I don't know what happened to Mark this week -- he totally lost his mojo, and looked a little lost on the dance floor. Hopefully he'll pick it up next week.

In addition to the results we were treated to a whopping three group numbers this week, including an impressive but endless Bollywood number, a typically genius routine by Mia Michaels for the Top 5 girls (how fierce was Katee?!?), and a Broadway number by a "mystery choreographer" that turned out to be Nigel Lythgoe. (My guess had been Debbie Allen.) All in all there was a lot of dancing, and that's never a bad thing.

Can Comfort's luck continue next week? I guess we'll have to wait and see...

RESULTS FROM SWEET 16

The first round of SYTYCD MADNESS: THE GAME is over, and the results are in!

Last year's champ Sabra went down to vote-in winner Allison, while Season 2 champ Benji fought off a charge by Ivan. Lacey was able to squeeze by Season 1 runner-up Melody, and Neil dominated Season 1's Jamile.

Fan-favorite Travis advanced easily over Pasha, and last year's runner-up Danny took out Season 2's Donyelle. First season champ Nick struggled with Natalie, but ultimately prevailed, while Season 2's Heidi had no problem with Season 1's Ashley.

New Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens Beach Photos; Shirtless Zac and Vanessa in a Bikini!

SYTYCD Elimination Prediction: Did Comfort Save Herself With Strong Hip-Hop Routine?

When it was announced earlier this week that So You Think You Can Dance's Jessica had withdrawn from the competition and Comfort would replace her, it seemed like pretty much a no-brainer that Comfort would be eliminated this week.

Well -- now I'm not so sure.

After last night's Top 10 performances, including a very entertaining hip-hop number with Twitch, could Comfort live to see another day?

My rankings of the Top 10 partner dances, solos and overall performances

Here's my thoughts on tonight's eliminations:

Girls
Totally Safe: Katee, Chelsie, Courtney
In Danger: Kherington, Comfort

After weeks of strong performances, Kherington completely fell apart last night, looking amateurish on her Two Step, and uninspired on her Jazz routine. Comfort, meanwhile, was a bit of a trainwreck on her Smooth Waltz, but just may have saved herself with the hip-hop. Add in the fact that she's now the competition's underdog, and it looks Kherington is on her way home.

Guys
Totally Safe: Will, Joshua
In Danger: Gev, Twitch, Mark

This is probably the strongest group of guys this show has seen, and losing any of them will be a shame, but there's only one thing for sure: it won't be Will or Joshua, who were both excellent last night. It probably also won't be Twitch -- despite a less-than-impressive waltz, his stellar hip-hop and entertaining solo should save him for at least another week.

Gev, who I had predicted earlier this week would be the first guy eliminated from the Top 10, actually had a strong evening -- his contemporary with Chelsie was spectacular, his solo was impressive, and his jive was not nearly as bad as it could have been. Mark, on the other hand, disappointed at every turn -- neither of his partner dances were anything special, and his solo was not quite extraordinary. Though he's performed strongly throughout the competition, I'm afraid a weak night may ultimately do him in.

So...my predictions for the eliminated contestants are Kherington and Mark.

Agree? Disagree? Sound off below!

Idol, Dancing, Runway and Their Hosts Pick Up Emmy Nods

Reality TV was all over the Emmy Award nominations, with the big guns picking up most of the nominations.

American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, The Amazing Race, Project Runway and Top Chef were nominated for the big award -- Best Reality Competition series. The hosts from three of those shows were also recognized in the new "Best Host" category -- Ryan Seacrest, Tom Bergeron and Heidi Klum. They are joined by Survivor's Jeff Probst and Deal or No Deal's Howie Mandel.

Idol picked up five nominations in all, including Picture Editing, Sound Mixing and Technical Direction. Runway also grabbed five, while Dancing with the Stars got eight nods (mostly in technical categories). So You Think You Can Dance also picked up four nominations, including three in the choreography category -- read article here.

SYTYCD Choreographers Wade Robson, Shane Sparks and Mandy Moore Nominated for Emmy Awards

Not only does their work provide "oohs" and "ahs" for the at-home audience, but now three So You Think You Can Dance choreographers can add an Emmy Award nomination to their list of feats.

Last year's Emmy champ Wade Robson (who shared the award with High School Musical's Kenny Ortega and fellow SYTYCD choreographer Mia Michaels) picked up a nomination for his "Hummingbird and Flower" routine, featuring Hok and Jamie. Mandy Moore, meanwhile, grabbed a nod for her "Table" dance to "Sweet Dreams" with Neil and Sabra, and Shane Sparks was nominated for the dance "Transformers" (who knew that was what it was called??) to the song "Fuego" (featuring Lauren and Pasha).

What -- no love for Mia Michaels? What about her brilliant Lacey/Kameron routine?

The three SYTYCD choreographers will go up against two-time Dancing with the Stars champion Julianne Hough, who was recognized for her mambo routine with Helio Castroneves, and Kenny Ortega, who was nominated for his work on High School Musical 2.

Stay tuned for more Emmy news...

Jessie Puts a Huge Target on His Back By Winnng Second Straight Competition

In a completely expected move, Brian was evicted from the Big Brother house tonight by a vote of 9-1. His buddy Dan accounted for the only vote for Renny.

(Editor's note: I thought Brian was cute. For about five minutes. Then he revealed his cocky and misguided true colors. I'm not sorry to see him go.)

In other Big Brother news Jessie, who avoided possible elimination this week by winning the Power of Veto competition, won Head of Household. By winning back-to-back challenges, I'd say Jessie is serious competition, and will definitely have a target on his back (and inhumanly large arms) the minute he's not Head of Household.

As for possible nominations, don't be surprised to see Jessie's late-night nemesis Renny on the chopping block. Dan may also become a foe, or Jerry might pay for nominating him Week 1.

Should be interesting...

SYTYCD Top 10 Spoilers: Partners, Choreographers and Dance Styles Revealed!

SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER!

You know the deal...

SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER!

The Top 10 have been split up from their original partners, and matched with new ones. Each member of the Top 10 will perform a solo tomorrow night, and will perform the following dances with the following partners:

Courtney and Joshua
Hip hop - Dave Scott
Rumba - Jean Marc

Mark and Kherington
Two Step - Ronnie & Brandy
Jazz - Tyce Diorio

Twitch and Comfort
Waltz - Hunter Johnson
Hip hop- Dave Scott

Will and Katee
Broadway - Tyce DiOrio
Pas de Deux - Desmond Richardson

Chelsie and Gev
Contemporary - Sonya Tayeh
Jive - Jean Marc Generaux

Chelsie and Gev seem to be a good pairing (at least they are about the same height!), as do Will and Katee (could any other of these pairs even hope to pull off a pas de deux?) Mark and Kherington and Courtney and Joshua could bring some fire to the stage, but I'm a bit concerned about Twitch and Comfort -- especially their waltz.

Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens!

SYTYCD's Jessica Is Injured; Will Be Replaced by Comfort in Top 10

SYTYCD contestant Jessica has been injured, and will be replaced by Comfort in the Top 10, Nigel Lythgoe revealed at the Television Critics Conference in Los Angeles this morning.

Grrr, why couldn't she have hurt herself weeks ago? (Mean, I know.)

In a statement released by Fox, Lythgoe said, "“I would like to say how sorry I am that Jessica cannot continue dancing in the competition at the advice of her doctor,” Lythgoe said in a statement released by FOX. “Her full recovery is paramount and will only come with rest.”

Do you think this will affect the voting, or was Jessica a goner this week anyways? Should she be allowed to tour, or should Comfort take her spot? Discuss below.

Dancing with the Stars Rumor Mill: Lance Bass and American Idol's Kellie Pickler May Be Kickin' Up Their Heels

Around this time of year, the internet rumors start flowing about the next season of Dancing with the Stars. At the moment, the two questions circulating through cyberland center around whether the show will feature (yet another) former boy-bander and a contestant from a competing reality show.

Several outlets have reported that Lance Bass will follow his former 'nsync bandmate Joey Fatone onto the dance floor. The gossip has ABC pondering whether or not to pair the openly gay Bass with a man or a woman. While it's an interesting question, as far as I'm concerned the only fair thing, despite his sexuality, would be to pair him with a woman. Otherwise, there would be no way to compare him to the other male/female couples on the show. I mean...would he be expected to lead or follow??

The other rumor making the rounds (this time courtesy of OK magazine), is that former American Idol contestant Kellie Pickler will be kickin' up her "red high heels." Pickler has actually established a bit of a name for herself in the field of country music, with a few hit singles and album sales exceeding 600K. Does she need the show? Well, she didn't need Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader, and she didn't seem to mind making a fool of herself on that one! (Watch video here)

What do you think of these latest names? Will either make you tune in? Or tune out?

The Annoying Older Woman Never Goes First: Why Big Brother 10's Renny Might Be Spared

Think back to the first week of Big Brother 9. Come on, it's not that hard -- it was less than 5 months ago! Who would you have guessed would be the first houseguest eliminated?

Be honest -- you answered Sheila.

As we all know, despite spending 95% of the first episode complaining, Sheila did not become the first person evicted, and in fact lasted until the very end of the game. What does this mean for her counterpart Renny, who has already pissed off more than one houseguest?

Don't get me wrong -- we're not comparing apples and oranges here, as Sheila and Renny are annoying in very different ways. Sheila's was loud, off-puttingly mopey and had no patience for her partner; Renny is just off her rocker. It must also be taken into account that Sheila was not playing the game by herself -- she was partnered with eventual champion Adam.

However, in terms of initial annoyingness, I'd say they are both at about a 10.

Still...I'd be willing to wager that for at least the 2nd straight year, the most annoying female houseguest will not be the first person eliminated.

Will Brian go instead? While whiny Jesse was nominated alongside Renny, it appears as though ol' Jerry has had a change of heart, and after winning the Power of Veto himself, he replaced Jesse with Brian. Dumb move? Perhaps. But it will likely end up saving Renny, as the other houseguests will undoubtedly convince themselves that Brian is a much bigger threat than Renny is, using the well-worn logic that a straight white guy could be smart and strong, while an annoying older woman doesn't pose a threat.

Unless, of course, the houseguests decide Renny is just too annoying, and has to go. In which case this whole argument will have been for naught.

Guess we'll have to wait and see...

So You Think You Can Dance Top 10: The Order They Will Fall

Even though I still haven't found my Travis or Danny or Sabra (that one dancer who gives me chills and makes me sit up straight in my seat), this season of So You Think You Can Dance is shaping up to be one of the hardest-to-call yet. The overall level talent is so high, it's nearly impossible to predict the order the Top 10 will fall...

But I'm gonna try!

Here are my thoughts on the order in which the Top 10 contestants will be eliminated...please feel free to leave comments and disagree!

Top 10/9: Jessica and Gev
Jessica's a no-brainer -- fans of the show have been clamoring for her elimination for weeks now, and this week they'll finally get the chance to send her home. Gev, on the other hand, has built up a fanbase with Courtney, but I'm afraid losing his crush is going to take away a bit of his spirit.
(Editor's Note: After this article was published, it was announced that Jessica has withdrawn from the competition and been replaced by Comfort in the Top 10. Read article here.)

Top 8/7: Chelsie and Twitch
Chelsie may be the most versatile dancer on the show, but I'm not sure she's the most likable, and that could send her packin' earlier than she should. Twitch, meanwhile, could not be any more likable, but his lack of technical expertise will surely hurt him in the longrun.

Top 6/5: Kherington and Joshua
Kherington beams when she dances, but I'm not sure she has what it takes (including a likable enough personality) to make it all the way to the finals. Joshua, while charming as all get-out, could find himself limited by his lack of training when it comes to this point in the competition.

Fourth Place: Courtney
It's a bit hard to guess what will happen to Courtney once she separates from Gev, but the beauty of her dancing (and her smile) will, in my opinion, catapult her into the Top 4.

Third Place: Mark
Easily the most unique contestant of the season, does Mark have what it takes to grab the big prize? I'm thinking he'll get close, but not quite close enough.

Second Place: Katee
This year's Sabra doesn't have much of a personality, but her dancing is sublime. Will she make it two-in-a-row for the girls?

Winner: Will
Technically gifted, absolutely gorgeous, and a total gentleman? Give him the $250K now!

Thoughts?
