Barbara Walters Names JK Rowling the Most Fascinating Person of the Year

I can't argue with Babs -- JK Rowling is quite a woman.

Yes, Rowling was named the Most Fascinating Person of the Year on Barbara Walters' annual special. The Harry Potter author, who was at one point a welfare mother, is basically single-handedly responsible for making reading relevant to the internet generation. It's not often something becomes the kind of phenomenon Harry Potter is. While I never got into the series, everyone I know who is claims the final installment was the best ending imaginable. The movies are huge. Yeah, I'd say she's pretty fascinating.

I can't really knock Barbara's choices for the rest of the Top 10 either. I'll give it up to Bill Clinton, 'cause he rocks, and Hugo Chavez, 'cause, well, he's the president of Venezuela. Posh and David Beckham was an understandable choice (and any chance to get a peek at David's gorgeous face is okay by me), and you won't hear me complain about the inclusion of either Jennifer Hudson (could she be any more charming?) or Justin Timberlake (love him). Don Imus had quite the controversial year, and myspace really has changed the social networking landscape, so their inclusions also have merit.

I was originally skeptical about Katherine Heigl's spot on the list. Don't get me wrong, I love her on Grey's Anatomy and I thought she was fantastic in Knocked Up. And I think it's adorable how close she and TR Knight are, and how she stood up for him. And I also love that she doesn't bite her tongue, recently giving a very candid interview where she called Gizzie (the coupling of her and Knight's characters) a ratings ploy and Knocked Up mysogynistic. Yeah, when I thought about it, I realized that I guess I do find her pretty fascinating.

So, good job Babs. The only person missing was your old friend Rosie O'Donnell. We won't hold it against you.

Kelly Clarkson Grabs First #1 Country Single With Reba McEntire

Her album may not be selling as well as she'd like, but Kelly Clarkson has just achieved a new accomplishment -- according to Mediabase, she has her first #1 single on the country charts.

Kelly's duet with Reba McEntire on "Because of You" (a song Kelly took to #1 on her own two years ago) tops the Country chart this week. The song is the lead-off single to Reba's new Duets album, which also features collaborations with Justin Timberlake, LeeAn Rimes, Carol King, Trisha Yearwood, Rascall Flatts, Faith Hill and Kenny Chesney.

Clarkson, McEntire and Timberlake filmed an episode of Oprah this past week to promote the CD. That episode will air on September 19.

Someone Please Write a Movie Musical For Justin Timberlake

Is there anything Justin Timberlake can't do?

If you caught his Future Sex/Love Sounds concert on HBO, than you know the answer to that question is likely NO!

He's cute as all get out. He can sing. He can dance. He can play multiple musical instruments. He can charm.

Yep, he can pretty much do it all.

So, my question is -- why hasn't someone written a movie musical for this guy? Sure, Zac Efron is the hottie-of-the-moment, but Timberlake is in a whole 'nother league. I would think he would be the perfect entertainer to headline an original, urban influenced musical, something like a latter-day The Wiz or even something like 8 Mile that would allow JT to showcase his many, many talents. Composers, get on it!

In the meantime, if they make a musical of Wicked, I vote Timberlake plays Fiyero.

As for the rest of Justin's concert -- holy cow! Like I said in my post Looking Forward To: Justin Timberlake's HBO Concert, I had seen him live back in March, but this close-up perspective on all that he can do was almost too much to handle. Love him or hate him, there is no denying the guy puts on a fantastic show.

And I commend him for really embracing the adult-ness of the show. There was probably a temptation to dumb it down a bit for the leftover 'nsync fans, but he kept the sexuality, the language, the drinking and the innate sexuality in a way that really cements his legitimacy as an artist.

Nice work, Justin!

Looking Forward To: Justin Timberlake's HBO Concert

Spending Labor Day evening with Justin Timberlake doesn't sound so bad to me.

I was at JT's Madison Square Garden concert back in February, so I've got an idea of what I'm in for tonight -- sexy tunes, great singing and musicality, and even better dancing. But even though I saw it live, I can't wait to curl up with the former 'nsyncer on HBO tonight.

To commemorate the concert, watch Justin's hysterical "Dick in a Box" video, which I have a hunch we'll see performed live (on tape) in just a few hours.

Madonna and Justin Timberlake to Duet at the VMA's

MTV's Video Music Awards have always featured unconventional and/or surprising pairings, and many of those have included Madonna. Who can forget her liplocks with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera a few years ago?

Well, Madge is coming back to the VMA's, reports Entertainment Tonight, and this time she's bringing along the hottest guy in music -- Justin Timberlake. Apparently the two will be performing one of the tracks they have been working on for Madonna's upcoming album. I'm guessing Timbaland, who is "musically supervising" the evening, will also get in on the festivities.

Should be hot!
