Mario Lopez, Shane Sparks and JC Chasez Will Serve as Judges on MTV's Best Dance Crew

The judges and premiere date have been announced for MTV's new dance show Randy Jackson Presents: America's Best Dance Crew.

The judges for the dance contest will be Dancing with the Stars runner-up (and Saved by the Bell star) Mario Lopez, 'nsync's JC Chasez and So You Think You Can Dance choreographer Shane Sparks. Does this mean Shane won't be appearing on SYTYCD this summer? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

The show will premiere on February 7 at 10PM, with a casting special airing January 26 at 2PM.

Between this show, ABC's Dance Wars and Dancing with the Stars, Bravo's upcoming Step Up and Dance, and the return of So You Think You Can Dance this summer on Fox, it's dance fever...and I love it!

The Musical Legally Blonde Scores Big Ratings on MTV

Omigod u guys! Did you catch MTV's broadcast of the Broadway musical Legally Blonde this past weekend? I did...and loved it!

Apparently, I wasn't the only one, as the ratings are in and it looks like a moderate hit. The following is from HitsDailyDouble.com:

"MTV’s broadcast of the Broadway show Legally Blonde the Musical on Saturday afternoon ranked #1 in its time period among persons 12-34 across all of television, even beating out broadcast. The highest-rated demo for the broadcast was in females 12-17 (3.89 rtg, +151% from the prior four weeks). It also scored a 1.15 persons 12-34 rating, up 31%. vs prior four weeks time period average. The special broadcast reached over 12.5 million total viewers, with over 6.9 million from the net’s persons 12-34 core."

I found the telecast ridiculously entertaining to watch -- I thought it had great production values that didn't just feel like they set up a video camera on a tripod, but also didn't go over-the-top with crazy camera cuts.

I had seen the show and enjoyed it in the theater back in April, but I fell in love with it even more watching it on TV. The story is charming, and the music, while not insta-classics, have a peppy, feel-good quality that make them easy to listen to. And the performances! Laura Bell Bundy just blows me away -- aside from Sutton Foster, I can't think of a single Broadway actress capable of dancing, singing and acting the way she does. She's the hardest working woman on Broadway! Christian Borle is effortlessly appealing as Emmitt, Orfeh is a hoot (and better than she was when I first saw the show) as Paulette, and Kate Shindle belts her face off as Vivian. I have to admit, I missed Leslie Kritzer as one of the Delta Nu girls, but all in all the cast is pretty flawless.

If you missed it, I believe MTV is re-running the airing this Friday. Check your local listings.

Omigod You Guys! MTV To Air Legally Blonde Musical

Elle Woods has been on film, she's been on stage, and now she's coming to MTV!
Broadway.com is reporting that MTV will film two performances of the Broadway musical Legally Blonde later this month, and will air the show in its entirety on September 29.

This is a pretty historic move for both Broadway and the cable station. Never before has a show been aired on television while it is still on the boards. According to the story, cameras will be placed onstage in addition to shooting from various locations in the theater to give the audience as intimate a viewing experience as possible.

MTV says, "We know how iconic the film version of Legally Blonde is for our audience and the musical's positive reception shows that those same die-hard fans have no problem supporting its evolution to the stage," while Legally Blonde producer Hal Luftig adds, "MTV's endorsement of a show on this level is unprecedented and will benefit the industry as a whole as Broadway continues to expand its audience. This is a great match and we could not be happier."

I saw the show back in the spring, and it's great fun -- definitely a perfect fit for MTV. Could this be the start of new partnerships between the Great White Way and the boob tube? Only time will tell...

Madonna and Justin Timberlake to Duet at the VMA's

MTV's Video Music Awards have always featured unconventional and/or surprising pairings, and many of those have included Madonna. Who can forget her liplocks with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera a few years ago?

Well, Madge is coming back to the VMA's, reports Entertainment Tonight, and this time she's bringing along the hottest guy in music -- Justin Timberlake. Apparently the two will be performing one of the tracks they have been working on for Madonna's upcoming album. I'm guessing Timbaland, who is "musically supervising" the evening, will also get in on the festivities.

Should be hot!

The Hills Season 3 Trailer Teases Lots of Drama

I never watched Laguna Beach -- just didn't see the appeal. The Hills, on the other hand, is nothing but guilty pleasure goodness, and I love every second of it. And based on the trailer for Season 3 of the show, the drama isn't stopping anytime soon!

When we last left LC and company, Lauren and Heidi were on the outs due to evil, evil Spencer (who may be the single most unlikable personality ever to appear on television). Anyone who reads US Weekly knows that the two haven't patched things up (as well as the fact that Heidi has gotten breast implants and completely fallen under the spell of the dastardly Spencer), and if the trailer for Season 3 is any indication, a reconciliation between the two is highly unlikely.

In addition to the Heidi/Lauren drama, apparently Audrina is LC's new roommate, Whitney is graduating from college, and both Brody Jenner and Jason Wahler make return appearances. Should be a great season!
