Nigel Talks About Tonight's American Idol Elimination -- Is Michael Johns in Trouble?

According to an interview American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe gave on Sirius radio, tonight's results might "surprise quite a few people." He cited Constantine Maroulis' ouster as a reminder that it is important that the singers do well each week, and that someone at the front of the pack could be gone in a moment.

Of course, he did not mention any names, but my gut is telling me he's referring to Michael Johns. I predicted that Michael would be in the Bottom 3, but based on what Nigel has said, could he be the one getting the boot?

What do you think?

The only shocker for me would be if TCO David A. gets the boot.

Dial Idol has David Cook in the bottom 3, not Michael. But it just depends on whether American Idol is ready for a shocker to occur at this point in the game. Usually the shocker occurs during the sixth round.. i.e. Constantine, Jennifer Hudson. To this day, I will never believe Constantine was voted off Idol. My belief is that they needed a shocker and who better than the number one vote-getter. Even before they announced it was Constantine Ryan stated how many votes he had received during his time on Idol.. No way did his fans just forget him that night. In fact, no way could his fans even vote as the lines were continuously busy or there was dead air.

I can tell you that its probably not David Cook. If it were him, it would surprise and shock millions of people, not just quite a few.

Oh, yes, I totally believe that Constantine Maroulis got booted because he didn't sing as well that week. No way did it have anything to do with the fact that no one could connect on his line to vote. No siree, that wouldn't happen. Oh, and the fact that his song choice was not allowed AT THE LAST MINUTE had to have been just an unfortunate oopsie, right?

I hope not! I like David C, David A and Michael the most. David C is my favorite but I like Michael a lot.

I think it sucks how Ryan said that last year on idol gives back we did not elimate anyone, giving the impression Michael would be safe and they he said but not this year. THAT WAS SO MEAN.

So, have we concluded that Idol voting is rigged for sure? There's no way that Michael got fewer votes than Carly and Syesha. What a letdown.

Why watch when you know it's set up so that David A becomes the next American Idol? Tell me it's not rigged.

David A is already the "anointed winner" this year so it couldnt have been him to go home tonight! And if any of the other contestants come close to overtaking him "The Powers That Be" at AI will do something/everything in their power to prevent them winning...prime example...Constantine Maroulis, season 4. If they couldnt get rid of him by not allowing/clearing his song choices, just shut off his phone lines the last half hour of voting.

I guess Nigel was right about the shocker. I am hoping they took care of it early on, because I certainly do not want to see David Cook get voted off on week six. Hey, I liked MJ, he was my second favorite. I am pretty mad about it, but if it can help David Cook win in any way, then so be it. As far as Constantine goes, that was the biggest shocker of all time (with the exception of Daughtrey) and I am still not over it. I think Constantine paved the way for the rockers we are enjoying today.

I cannot believe Michael was eliminated, I thought he had the richest voice, and was truly an entertainer. He could sing anything. I don't think there are a lot of people voting this year, or they thought their favorite was safe. I so wanted him to win. Good Luck to him, I am sure he will get a recording deal.

I agree with the last Anonymous responder. That was totally uncalled for. They may think it's funny to play with somebody's emotions, but I think it was way out of line. So Michael may have not had the best performance, but he definitely didn't deserve to be ousted the way he was.
