American Idol runner-up Blake Lewis sold 98K copies of his new CD, debuting at #9 on this week's album chart. Click here to see how that holds up against the debuts of other Idol second place finishers.
Carrie Underwood moved 105K copies of her CD Carnival Ride, which placed her at #7. That was an increase of 15% over the previous week.
Sparks sold 52K discs, putting her at #24, while Daughtry, whose CD was released over a year ago, sold 43K CD's for the #33 spot.
The top spot on the album chart was, once again, held by Josh Groban, who moved a very impressive 569K copies of his Christmas CD. Wow, wow, wow.
The rest of the Top 5 was populated by Alicia Keys (234K), The Eagles (203K), Now 26 (159K) and Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus (136K).

Clarkson Drops Out of Top 50 on Album Chart; Daughtry and Underwood Remain
Without a single being played on the radio, Kelly Clarkson's My December dropped out of the Top 50 on the album chart this week. Hopefully with the release of "Don't Waste Your Time" Kelly will get some airplay, and her CD will start to move a few more copies.
As for the other chart regulars, Daughtry rode the strength of his latest single "Over You" to almost 21K albums sold at the #28 spot, while Carrie Underwood, whose new album comes out next month, sold about 12K copies for the #48 spot.
The chart was topped again by the soundtrack to High School Musical 2, which sold just shy of 200K copies. The rest of the Top 5 consisted of Casting Crows, Young Joc, Hannah Montanta and Fergie.

Daughtry Sneaks Past Clarkson On This Week's Album Chart
Despite the fact that his CD was released more than 6 months before Kelly Clarkson's, Chris Daughtry passed the first Idol winner on this week's album charts. Daughtry moved just under 21K albums this week, good for the #33 spot, while Clarkson came in at #35, with just over 19K albums sold.
Not to be outdone, Carrie Underwood, whose CD was released almost two years ago, sold just under 16K copies for the #43 spot.
As expected, the soundtrack to High School Musical 2 topped the chart this week, selling an incredible 618K copies. The soundtrack to the first High School Musical also got a huge boost this week, with almost 36K copies sold.
HSM2 was only one of two CD's featuring Zac Efron in the Top 5, as the soundtrack to Hairspray came in at #5 (64K copies). The rest of the Top 5 includes Hannah Montana, Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds, and Now 25.

Clarkson Holds Off Daughtry and Underwood on the Album Charts
Kelly Clarkson's latest, My December, barely held off CD's from fellow Idol alum Chris Daughtry and Carrie Underwood this week, moving almost 24K copies for the #24 spot. Daughtry finished at #27 (21K albums) and Underwood came in at #38 (17K albums).
The top 5 on this week's chart are new albums from U.G.K. (156K) and Plies (91K), Now 25 (87K), Hannah Montana (76K), and Jonas Brothers (70K).
In other news, Elliott Yamin's first single, "Wait for You," is currently the #3 song on the Top 40 pop chart. Go Elliott!

Kelly Clarkson's New Album Continues To Slide, Dropping to #5
I wish I had good news to report, I really do. Unfortunately, it seems Kelly Clarkson's new album, My December, is slipping fast, dropping another 46% for the #5 position. The album sold about 62K copies this week, for a 3-week total of just under 500K.
Carrie Underwood, who has announced the release date for her follow-up to Some Hearts (read post here), logged yet another week in the Top 40, this time at #30 with 23K albums sold. Fellow Idol alum Chris Daughtry saw his album Daughtry finish at #24, with 27K albums sold.
Rapper TI grabbed the week's top spot for the second straight week, moving 162K albums, with the Smashing Pumpkins' debut coming it at #2 with 146K albums sold. Disney queen Hannah Montana (Miley Cyrus), Interpol, and Clarkson round out the top 5.

Kelly Clarkson is #3 On This Week's Album Chart
Despite three new releases in the Top 10, Kelly Clarkson's "My December" managed to hold onto the #3 position on this week's album chart. Though she dropped off 61% from last week, the album sold more than 116K copies.
Fellow Idol alum Chris Daughtry and Carrie Underwood are also on this week's chart -- "Daughtry" sold 31K albums for the #22 spot, while Underwood's "Some Hearts" moved 27K units, good enough for #25.
TI scored the #1 position on this week's chart, selling 465K copies, while last week's #1, Hannah Montana (Miley Cyrus), sold 186K for #2.
