While we continue to watch the newest crop of American Idol wannabes make it to the big stage, here's some updates on last year's champ.
Jordin Sparks will sing the National Anthem at this Sunday's Super Bowl -- not entirely surprising since the game is being broadcast on FOX. But talk about exposure -- the game is expected to draw more than 100 million sets of eyeballs!

I wasn't the biggest fan of Jordin's first single "Tattoo," but I actually quite like this R&B ballad. What do you think?

Michael Ausiello from tvguide.com is reporting that American Idol judge Paula Abdul is in talks to perform live at the Super Bowl this year, which will be airing on Fox.
The woman can't even walk in a straight line -- how is she gonna pull this one off?

"A tipster in close proximity to Abdul's inner circle tells me that the American Idol judge, who hasn't released an album of new material since 1995's Head over Heels, is in talks to perform — no, not on Idol's next '90s theme night — during the network's Super Bowl XLII telecast!
It gets better. (No, not a cameo by MC Scat Cat.) According to my source, the onetime Laker Girl is already in rehearsals for the video to her duet with Randy Jackson, the first single from his upcoming Music Club Vol. 1 CD. If the Super Bowl deal goes through, she would likely use the same choreography during her Feb. 3 Astroturf comeback. (Fox Sports declined comment.)"
Considering the game is on Fox, it's not a huge surprise that an American Idol champ will perform, but it's still big news that Jordin Sparks will sing the National Anthem at this year's Super Bowl. According to the Arizona Republic, the teenager will perform before the big game, which is being held this year on February 3.
Hopefully this will boost her album sales!
