Kelly Clarkson Named to Mr. Blackwell's Worst Dressed List

Well, it wasn't a great year for Kelly Clarkson -- her album sales disappointed and she got into a fight with her record label. It looks like style guru Mr. Blackwell is rubbing some salt in her wounds -- he's named the Idol champ to his annual Worst Dressed List!

Kelly came in at #5 on the list, below Posh Spice, Amy Winehouse, Mary Kate Olsen and Fergie. That's some pretty, um, auspicious company.

Here is the entire Top 10, along with what Mr. Blackwell had to say about each of the "honorees":

10.) Alison Arngrim: "Little Nellie of the prairie, looks like a 1940's fashion editor for the Farmers Almanac."

9.) Lindsay Lohan: "Lindsay the fashion frenzy strikes again! Lohan takes fashion to a new low."

8.) Jessica Simpson: "Forget the Cowboys. In prom queen screams, can it get any worse? She's a global fashion curse!"

7.) Avril Lavigne: "Gothic make-up courtesy the mad spatula-Fashions provided by.. The house of Dracula!"

6.) Eva Green: "Stuck in neon nightmares not fit for the sane. Fashion this loud could give Bond a migraine! A profusion of confusion from toes to nose!"

5.) Kelly Clarkson: "Her heavenly voice soars above the rest... but those belly-baring bombs are hellish at best! She may be the queen of 'Pro-Active' – but that wardrobe looks downright radioactive!"

4.) Fergie: "Another style-free 'Fergie' in fashion's hall of shame? Yes, when it comes to couture chaos, guess it's all in a name!"

3.) Mary Kate Olsen: "YIKES! In layers of cut-rate kitsch, Mary Kate's look is hard to explain... she resembles a tattered toothpick-trapped in a hurricane!"

2.) Amy Winehouse: "Exploding beehives above…tacky polka-dots below... she's part 50's car-hop horror."

1.) Victoria Beckham: "Forget the fashion spice - wearing a skirt would suffice! In one skinny-mini monstrosity after another, pouty posh can really wreck-em."

Lindsay Lohan on the Road to Recovery?

Troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan released the following statement on Thursday:

“It is clear to me that my life has become completely unmanageable because I am addicted to alcohol and drugs. Recently, I relapsed and did things for which I am ashamed. I broke the law, and today I took responsibility by pleading guilty to the charges in my case. No matter what I said when I was under the influence on the day I was arrested, I am not blaming anyone else for my conduct other than myself. I thank God I did not injure others. I easily could have. I very much want to be healthy and gain control of my life and career and have asked for medical help in doing so. I am taking these steps to improve my life. Luckily, I am not alone in my daily struggle and I know that people like me have succeeded. Maybe with time it will become easier. I hope so.”

To be honest, I'm kinda over La Lohan, but I wish her all the best.

Person of the Day: Christina Aguilera

This was not a good weekend for young starlets. Lindsay Lohan was arrested on a DUI and found with cocaine in her car, and then passed out at a club less than 48 hours later. Mischa Barton was rushed to the hospital after mixing prescription medication with alcohol (or illegal mushrooms, depending on who you believe). The latest photos of Nicole Ritchie show that she is back to wasting away. And, lest we forget, Paris Hilton is heading to jail and Britney Spears has popped out two children in the last couple of years and still manages to find time to do non-stop club hopping, even after a stint in rehab.

Which brings me to today's Person of the Day -- Christina Aguilera. For awhile there it seemed like Xtina was the problem child, what with songs like "Dirrrty" and her penchant for wearing chaps and other revealing clothing. But whaddaya know? Ms. A is riding high, while her contemporaries are scraping the bottom of the barrel.

While her most recent album "Back to Basics" has not been the bona fide success her earlier "Stripped" was, Christina has still had several hit singles ("Ain't No Other Man," "Hurt," and "Candyman") and found time to set off on a very successful national tour. I saw the lady perform at Madison Square Garden in NYC a couple of months ago, and she puts as much energy into her live performance as Lindsay and Mischa do while getting their drink-on on a Saturday (or, let's face it, Monday) night. This is the second time I have seen Christina in concert, and I must say she puts on one of the best shows of anyone I've seen.

Christina seems to have found true happiness in her life, courtesy of husband Jordan Bratman, and that support seems to have provided her with a grounding force that these other girls are apparently lacking. I'm not just talking about her more ladylike apparel -- I loved Christina when she was dirrrrrty, and I love her now that she is cleeeeeean. She just seems relaxed and happy with who she is, and that is a pleasure to see.

Who would have thought Christina would end up being the good role model?

Congrats, Christina, on being today's Idol Thoughts Person of the Day.

Kelly Clarkson Addresses Record Label Issues

In a new interview with MTV Radio, Kelly Clarkson addresses the rumors that she has fought with Clive Davis and her record label over her upcoming CD, "My December."

In the interview, Kelly discusses her desire to continue evolving as an artist, a desire her label, apparently, would be more than happy to thwart. She tells MTV, "Everybody always wants me to go in different directions. Obviously they're a record label so they need to sell records. They want the formula writers and the formula producers that do everybody else's stuff, and while I love some of those people... and I don't mind working with that...I just don't like working with someone that gives you a song and is like, 'Oh, I wrote this for you.' But you find out that they've given it to every other artist and they turned it down, you know?"

She continued, "My label literally sent me a Lindsay Lohan track from her last album and wanted me to record it for my new album. And while I like Lindsay Lohan, like I'm cool with her and I think she sings the song well... it's already been on an album. I don't care what pop star it is."

I, for one, am happy that Kelly won't be singing recycled tunes from the likes of Lindsay Lohan (!), but instead will provide us with music that comes directly from her. The result may not be as hook-y (or successful) as "Since U Been Gone," but, as far as I'm concerned, developing her own artistic voice is far more important in the long run than having a #1 hit single. (And who is to say, really, that the tunes on "My December" won't end up as successful as the ones on "Breakaway"? As of now, we've only heard one song, "Never Again," which debuted in the Top 10 on the Hot 100. Not too shabby.)
