After last night's results show, a coin toss determined that Blake Lewis will perform first on Tuesday night's show. According to reports from audience members, even though Blake actually won the toss, he asked Jordin whether she wanted to kick off or close the evening, and she (quickly) chose the latter. Smart girl.
While this was unquestionably a nice thing for Blake to do, I'm not sure how ultimately wise it was. The last performance that the viewers see is often the one that sticks most strongly in their minds -- by allowing Jordin to choose to perform last, will this end up backfiring on Blake?
What do y'all think?

I don't think it matters as much in the finale as it does in other weeks. Clay Aiken got the "pimp spot" in the finale, and did one of the best closing performances EVER and he still lost. I can't remember the order from other seasons, but that one I remember quite well.
That is simply the type of young man Blake is. He is thoughtful and considerate and always has been to all the other contestants. He has frequently guided the girls up and down stairs, etc. It is a very endearing quality. I don't think singing second will effect the voting for him. Not when there are only 2 left.
Go Blake!
I'm guessing Blake WANTS Jordin to win. Idol has too much control over the winner.
Position makes a difference when there are a number of singers, but with just two, I don't think it is significant.
I think Blake has accomplished what he came for -- he made the tour. He has said that numerous times. While Jordin really wants to be the Idol, Blake may not. It's not going to be easy to beatbox about destiny and unicorns and rainbows.
I was thinking the same thing as Ginger.
I agree with you Ginger. Last year's winner is a prime example. He didn't sign with 19M and they ripped him apart every chance they get.
He said he hasn't watched Idol before, so there's one reason. I don't think he wanted to go last anyways, he may start out with something up tempo to get the night started, and he probably won't bring the house down with a ballad at the end, so he gave it to Jordin. I don't see him "fighting" to win at this point.
